The celebratory concert on the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Bedřich Smetana will be the culmination of the Year of Czech Music, and we would like to conceive it as the composer himself would have wished. In other words, as a celebration of Czech music and Czech song, which flows sweetly from the mouths of a lively people, extraordinary attention will be paid to the author's choral work. That's why we invited singers from all over the country to make the concert a nationwide event in the best sense of the word. You can look forward to more than three hundred performers, and completely unique men's choirs will also be heard. Their performing was the innermost manifestation of Czechness during the National Revival, we believe that we will succeed in bringing them to their full potential. We will try to select the ones that best characterize Bedřich Smetana from his extensive work. You will hear chamber and orchestral, piano and vocal works, and maybe even an opera.
